Yes, the annual Bad Mustangs Club "Get Out of the Cold" event has once again brought the east coast out of a chilly winter. Over 125 Mustangers gathered at Maryland International Raceway (MIR) on March 29th to officially bring in spring. The weather was favorable – only requiring a light jacket to keep out of the cold. This was great racing weather! The gallery at MIR quickly ran out of space as all the mostly late-model Mustangs lined the lot from end to end. There were also a few older ‘Stangs in attendance including one 1978 Mustang II that just happen to run in the 10’s winning Highest MPH at just over 128 MPH! Jason Heinz did a wonderful job of pulling everyone together out in southern Maryland. Highlights included 3 Bad Mustang Club member-only runs down the ¼-mile, a 50/50 raffle, UPR product give away and lots of talk about fast Fords. Each year the event continues to draw more Mustangs. This year was no exemption with the largest turnout ever for GOOTC - an event that Jason originally intended to serve as a way to meet the faceless Mustang friends he had made over the Internet. Today – the faces are matched to beautiful cars and new friendships - the key to the show’s continuing success. Many new people just came to the event and are now joining the online forums to chat with their newly met Mustang friends. 2008 sponsors were Bad Mustangs Club, UPR, Corsa Performance Exhausts, Edelbrock, March Performance Pullies, Moss Motors, Maximum Motorsports, Mr. Gasket Co, Metco Motorsports, and StangMods Prizes are given away each year thanks to the sponsors. The winners for 2008 were people and Mustangs from all ends of the spectrum. The 50/50 Raffle was won by JB(Baulkin.) Lowest Elapsed Time went to a 1978 Mustang II that ran in the 10’s. Highest MPH was nailed down by a 2004 Comp Orange Cobra @ 125.65 MPH driven by Mel(chvyetr). Jeff (06VistaBlueGT) pulled the tree in James Bond fashion .007 for Best Reaction time. UPR gave the Get Out of the Cold crew a set of their 05-08 Mustang Billet AC Knob Covers to raffle off to an owner of a 008 Mustang, which went to Joe(NJJoe). Best In Show went to Lisa(93FHPSSP) a 1991 Retired Georgia State Patrol LX Coupe SSP Mustang, which has been completely restored to it’s patrol days even down to a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the front seat.
