Should I get new brakes, calipers, rotors and pads for my Mustang since I'm getting close to the 11second mark?

Some people are telling me that I only need to get large rotors.  (slotted)
Some are saying to also get a better back plate to allow more cooling.

Help !   wav

I find at most tracks  the stock brakes on the GT are totally adequate for   slowing down after  a 120 + mph run.  The only track that  I ever worried about  was  Englishtown.  They seem to have a  unusually short shut down area but even there  it was not a  problem  just had to brake  reasonably hard and  hit the last turnoff.  I usually hit the last turnoff anyway  but at  tracks like MIR  or  Atco  I pretty much let it coast to the last turnoff and just use the brakes to make the turn.

Daily  stop and go driving  really taxes the  brakes  more  than drag strip passes.    If you look at Summit or Jegs  catalogs  they sell liteweight brake systems for  drag racers  with  reduced thickness rotors and backing plates  because they do not need to stand up to the heat generated by  continuous  stop and go driving.

I plan to upgrade to better pads, ss lines and slotted rotors, for  day to day driving and  cosmetics at the  car show.  But the  stock binders are fine  for  drag racing  your  car.

Bob,

Stock V6 brakes are fine for your ET/MPH.   When you wear out your stock pads, just put some Hawk pads on them.  No point in changing out the brake lines as you don't autox the car.   Slotted rotors dont offer any value, except that they are usually bigger which is where the real benefit comes in.
